There are so many wonderful and amazing places to go on date in South Korea. The iconic palaces, Namsan Tower, Lotte World and wondering around Myeongdong are just some of the brilliant things I’ve done with my Aaron. But we’ve also explored some places, off the beaten track, that I think deserve some recognition so I’ve compiled a list. Enjoy!

1. Herb Island
Nestled in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province its a bit of a trek to get to from Seoul and I would recommend driving, but once you get there it’s worth it. It’s such a random, quirky, interesting and pretty place. There’s a sprawling garden, huge mansion style shop that sells things such as soaps, jams, ornaments and cute things. As you walk around you can find dinosaur sculptures and open fields of beautiful flowers and trees. It’s best to go in spring or summer. I walked around too much in the heat and ended up collapsing but keep in mind, I’d just landed in Korea after flying from Australia to America to Seoul within a week, and then went to Herb Island…don’t do that! Rest before you go and enjoy yourself 🙂

2. Provence Village
Again, out of the way but worth the drive Aaron and I have been on numerous dates here. It’s just so cute. Provence Village in Paju is designed to look like a village in the South of France. There’s even mini Eiffel Tower, but I love the white carriage, it makes me feel like Cinderella when I sit in it. There’s also a Lovers Lane – a pathway with twinkling lights that says, “hug each other,” or “say I love you.” It’s so cheesy and I absolutely love it. It’s also very romantic and there’s a delicious bakery nearby.

3. Silver Screen Cinema
If you like movies why not do something a little different. In the heart of Jongno this is one of Korea’s oldest cinemas and they play golden oldies from the Golden Age of Hollywood. Classics like Casablanca, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. You and your date might be the youngest people there as the average age of the cinema goer at Silver Screen is about mid 70s but it’s so much fun and the aesthetic is pretty. Dated, vintage and old school. This is a must if you want to jazz up the usual “dinner and a movie,” date night.

4. Jade Garden
We went in October because I remember they’d decorated for Halloween with the cutest little pumpkins. Aaron and I strolled through the thick green leaves and pretty flowers. It’s peaceful and calming. Located in Chuncheon, it’s also home to K-drama filming locations including "That Winter the Wind Blows" and "Angel’s Last Mission: Love".

5. Banpo Bridge
This one is a magical date place. Located in Seoul, the Banpo Bridge’s famous feature is the Rainbow Fountain display. As the sun sets more than 200 lights illuminate the water and rainbow coloured jets of water shoot out in time to the music. I snuggled up to Aaron and watched the display. The music is corny and lovey-dovey and absolutely perfect. It’s a fun and sweet date idea, when you want to do something relaxed and low key. However, the fountain display only operates from April to October and goes for about 20 or so minutes.
