Meet the Artist: Ergo, Bria
Ergo, Bria is a multitalented artist and musician from Atlanta, Georgia, who is currently based in Nashville, Tennessee. A singer-songwriter, instrumentalist, session musician, and producer. Musically, there’s nothing that she can’t do.
Her abilities don’t stop there, though. Ergo, Bria graduated from Belmont University with a double major in songwriting and legal studies. If that doesn’t prove her duality as both an artist and as a person, then we don’t know what does.
She prides herself on creating genre-bending music that speaks to the listener’s soul, as she pours her own soul into every single note and key in her songs. Her forte is deep lyric writing filled with complex but beautiful metaphors that will linger in your mind.

With over 13,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and having been featured on the platform’s ‘Fresh Finds’ playlist, Ergo, Bria has been racking up an international following with her whimsical and non-limiting music. On the local American music scene, she has performed numerous live shows in major cities like New York City, Nashville, and Atlanta. In fact, she has opened for renowned artists such as Kenny Hoopla, Pinkshift, and Olivia Jean.

'tastes like candlesticks'
Released on Friday, December 13th, ‘tastes like candlesticks’ is an alternative rock and punk song that brings that inevitable spotlight to Ergo, Bria’s unique sound and voice.
‘taste like candlesticks’ is a song about anemia and craving inanimate objects (as Ergo, Bria explains on her Instagram). As unorthodox as it sounds, the lyrics describe the depth underneath the surface of a girl who seems perfect on the outside and has yet to be vulnerable to others in the face of having them in the palm of her hands.
The song has Y2K punk rock vibes that could easily be part of the OST of one of the classic 2000s dramatic comedy films where the female protagonist goes on a journey of self-discovery.
It is only made that more main-charactery (we are deeming that a word now) by the way that the lyrics dance around the storytelling. The lyrics, “Her lips tastes like candlesticks,” add an exciting element to the song as you start to toil with all of the possible meanings it bears. Walking the tightrope between the perfect wax of a candle unscathed and the melted revelation of its true core once its given heat, Ergo, Bria not only gets you bopping with this highly addictive track, but also gets you thinking about essence as a subject.
This is largely what makes Ergo, Bria’s music so fantastic. It’s solid with no faults as she not only manages to do some pretty epic storytelling through her lyrics but the musical quality is unmatched thanks to stunning musical arrangements, an understanding for the genre at hand, and just overall groove potential that makes you want to listen to the song on full blast and dance around your room.
