First, and we need to get this out of the way… If there’s a K-drama that overuses flashbacks and imaginative moments it’s this one. The narrative takes place across different timelines but this distinction can be easy to miss if you get distracted and lose focus for a second. So, with the additional flashes, you need to pay close attention to what’s going on or things can get confusing.
Naturally, this is part of what makes this such great filmmaking. The kind that grasps and captivates your attention at every second.

The cast speaks for themselves,"The Frog" was already composed of some of the best actors in the world of Hallyu and that shows in the impeccable portrayals of each character. This writer personally enjoyed how complex almost every main character was, it gave them all a lot of dimension and added to their layered portrayals of their characters.
To give more specific shoutouts, Go Min Si as Yoo Seong A??? Her performance was out of this world. In an interview, she said that she prefers to take on transformative roles and I have to agree. She showed a different side of her acting capabilities in this role. You found yourself hating her character’s core as she pulled off this psychotic character who knows no consequence to a tee. Every little smirk and lashing out gave you the creeps.

Kim Yoon Seok (playing Jeon Yeong Ha) and Yoon Kye Sang (playing Koo Sang Jun) were also phenomenal in their respective roles. This writer hasn’t watched a lot of their works before but was blown away by how detailed their portrayals were, especially in the subtleties of their actions and emotions that still spoke volumes.

The other cast members were also exceptional, but we’d like to give a specific special mention to both EXO’s Chan Yeol (playing Koo Gi Ho) and Roh Yoon Seo (playing Jeon Ui Seon). Although both of their roles were short-lived in terms of screen time, they made sure that you remembered their portrayals with impactful acting.

Acting aside, the cinematography, editing, sound design, and even the soundtrack of "The Frog" were all applaudable as well."The Frog" ending also served juicy justice. It felt like you were watching a film that was divided up into parts more so than your typical K-drama. It was riveting, which is something that 2024 K-dramas have not been serving much of lately.
This is definitely one of the best K-dramas of the year without a doubt, it gave intrigue and superior quality that is hard to find these days.
